1) stanbridgeacademy.quickschools.com All homework is listed on Quickschools and any downloadable assignments will be posted there as well. Username and password is required to use this website. 2) Online Textbooks: - Literature Book: www.pearsonsuccessnet.com - Writing Coach: www.successnetplus.com Physical textbooks cannot leave the classroom so students must use these websites if needing to use the textbook at home. Username and password is required to use this website. II. General Expectations: Academics: Students are expected to put their full effort into this class and take it seriously. Plagiarism and cheating will not be tolerated in any way. Any cheating or plagiarism will be reported to the Head of School and will result in failure of the individual project and possibly further actions. Make up work: It is the student's responsibility to get and complete all make up work. Make up work must be submitted within a timely manner for credit. Waiting until the end of a grading period to turn in missing work is not acceptable. Behavior: Students are to follow the classroom rules and work towards reaching their individual goals on the Star Sheets. Negative behavior can negatively affect class participation grades. Homework: The High School Homework Policy states that each day a homework assignment is missing, a student will be dropped a letter-grade. Homework that is turned in more than 5 days late can receive a maximum grade of 40% (F). III. Grade Breakdown and Explanation: Exams 25% Writing Assignments 25% Homework 20% Class Work & Participation 20% Final Exam 10% Exams: There will be weekly vocabulary tests, tests on the homework reading assignments, and tests at the end of units in the literature book. Each semester will end with a final exam. Writing Assignments: Students will use the Writing Coach online textbook to complete interactive writing assignments. Homework: 1) Reading: Students are assigned a portion of a book per week along with comprehension questions and a vocabulary worksheet 2) Prefix, Root, and Suffix Vocabulary: Students will learn a new set of words each week and have corresponding homework assignments to help them study for their Friday tests. Participation: Participation in class discussions, group work, and other activities is required. Class work: Class work must be completed in a timely manner and will become homework if not finished in the allocated class time. |
